What about the shortcuts that customs use??? The exporter takes shortcuts, the importer wants to take shortcuts to get it quickly, so customs would honestly have to take shortcuts aye to get the process rolling along or else. Take one example - container ships are dangerously overloaded, what does customs do about that? Or do they just overcharge the exporter and importer to get the money easier and ignore the unsafe overloaded shipping containers coming into and out of there ports ! 😉.

Customs haven’t evolved or developed their systems to scale to more incoming packages so the country economy is held back… businesses need to order in parts, products and customs simply adds a week of wait time to this process and here we are with a video from 7 years ago proving they haven’t changed one bit…. Yet the tax payer some how pays millions and millions to customs?

At least 2 times, DHL in their infinite wisdom, decided to open and unwrap Christmas care package presents from the USA...Instead of x-raying the wrapped correctly declared packages, the customs department took it upon themselves to open all 23 wrapped personal gifts year before last, and again last year just before Christmas....I presume using an x-ray machine is far too complicated for their customs employees, who are probably minimum wage zero contract temps. I have no issue with this, IF there was intel, or reasonable suspicion to warrant the in-depth examination, but there wasn't. I would urge anybody who are contemplating using DHL, not to, and to use other less draconian courier companies, or just use Parcel Force, as their shipping rates are more competitive, plus their customs department (on the whole) are not full of those who are lackadaisical in the brain department.
